After earned his medical degree from the Government Medical College in Amritsar, India, in 1992. He then relocated to the United States where he went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at Resurrection Westlake Hospital in Melrose Park, Illinois. Shortly after, he became board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. He served as Chief Resident with the Resurrection Westlake Internal Medicine Residency Program and continued his academic career by being resident Teaching Faculty at Weiss Memorial Hospital.
